Two weeks ago Boston was selected as the U.S. bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics.
Although many citizens of Boston support the bid there has been strong opposition.
Groups such as NoBostonOlympics argue that hosting the Olympics would hurt Boston residents and businesses. On Thursday January 15th the group held their first anti Olympics meeting at a church in Back Bay drawing a crowd of 150.
The overwhelming number of Bostonians want a referendum on the issue.
Boston 2024, the private nonprofit behind the city’s bid, recently released the presentation materials it gave to the U.S. Olympic Committee during its pitch in December. The documents include renderings and information about possible venues, transportation planning and an estimated operating budget.
